News in a flash—It was just like yesterday when Amber Simmons, a 17-year-old oncoming high school senior, asked her mom if she could go to one of her friends' house for a party. Amber reiterated to her mom that though she should not wait for her because she's not sure if it's safe to come home past midnight, it's not really a "party" party, but just a little thing that she has to be in because Kristie's parents are out of town. Her mom, Lisa, said no at first but was eventually persuaded by Amber when she threatened not to talk to her ever again. Despite her mom getting in the way anew that night upon seeing a scantily clad Amber walking down the stairs, she stormed out and there was nothing Lisa could do; after all, she's 17, all grown up and ready to spread her wings. Nine months later, Amber gave birth to her son, Hunter, and came so close to graduating despite the unforeseen challenges. She also successfully delivered her daughter Leanne after a year, and has since been living the life of a dedicated full-time mom of two with her partner Rob who works at the local hardware.
